Baumann Family

The Baumann Family

Christmas 2012

Last year at the end of December I had the opportunity to shoot some photos for the Baumann family kids–Brandon, Katie and Zoey. It was freezing outside with some crazy wind, but either way it was lots of fun and the photos came out great! These were for a family present and partially Brandon’s senior portraits.

Sharon and Cillian

Sharon and Cillian

Christmas 2012

Right before Christmas I had the opportunity to take pictures of Sharon and Cillian while they were visiting Georgetown. They were such as blast to work with and a wonderful family! We went down to San Gabriel Park and explored the river and the playscapes. Cillian especially loved running after all the ducks! The only problem we had during this shoot was the chill–it was way too cold to be Texas weather! We decided to go shoot under the tree after a while because our fingers were so numb!

Fairytales and Folklore

Fairytales and Folklore

This year I am an AP Photo student and which means I am building a portfolio for colleges. At the end of the year I will have around 26 pieces–which includes the 12 that are in my concentration. Thinking about my concentration, I decided to expand on something I love so much already–fairytales and folklore. As a kid I loved to listen to stories and watch Disney movies, so this idea came natural to me. I have a couple pieces in this set so far which include: Little Red Riding Hood, the Evil Queen Ravenna from Snow White, the Fates from Greek Mythology, the Bear from Native American Folklore and the Ugly Duckling. All of these characters come from either the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson or folklore from around the world. I’m only halfway done, and I’m excited to see what other characters I can bring to life!

Be sure to check all these photos out on my Flickr page for more information on the tales themselves.

Her Private Winter

Her Private Winter

This is the first square format piece I’ve ever done, and I’m pretty impressed with what I came out with! It was freezing cold outside and my sister was a great help to later pull all the stickers out of my feet–OUCH! Otherwise, this photo was inspired by the millions of people world wide who struggle with depression. In the United States alone over 20 million people are diagnosed with the disease every year. I have known people with cases of depression and they often create their own “Private Winter” with feelings of isolation and hopelessness.

On a different note, it’s my 18th birthday tomorrow!

Temple College Art Show

Temple College Art Show

Last night I went to the Temple Art Show with some of my favorite photo to kids to find that one of my pieces won an award! My piece Ravenna ended up being the top high school photography entry overall winning an Award of Excellence. It was a great night and I’m proud of how well Georgetown High School was represented! We had many of our pieces featured in the show and everyone should be very proud!
